The Reasons I Still Homeschool After 10 Years

September 17, 2025

Whether it’s flexibility, stronger family connections, or more personalized learning, homeschooling comes with some pretty amazing benefits. These are the top benefits that I’ve found after more than a decade of homeschooling my children.

Here’s why homeschooling has worked so well for us, and why I plan to homeschool all the way through!

Personalized Education

One of the biggest advantages of homeschooling is being able to tailor my kids’ education to their unique needs.

Instead of a one-size-fits-all curriculum, I can adjust the pace, the style, and even the subjects to fit how my children learn best. This makes learning more effective—and more enjoyable.

Flexible Schedule

Homeschooling gives our family the gift of time, because we’re not tied to the typical 8-to-3 school day.

We can travel, schedule around family needs, or simply enjoy slower mornings without the rush. This flexibility is one of the things I’ve valued most over the past 10 years of homeschooling.

Stronger Family Bonds

Spending more time together naturally strengthens family relationships. Homeschooling gives me the chance to not only teach my kids academics, but also to build memories, traditions, and stronger connections as a family.

Safe & Supportive Learning Environment

At home, I can create a safe space where my children feel supported, respected, and encouraged to ask questions. This has reduced their stress and anxiety and helped them feel more confident in their learning journey.

Freedom to Explore Interests

Homeschooling allows my kids to dive deeper into their passions. Whether it’s baking, sewing, video editing, or entrepreneurship, I can weave those interests into their education. This keeps learning relevant and exciting.

Life Skills & Real-World Learning

Because homeschooling happens in the real world, my kids often pick up life skills more naturally—things like cooking, budgeting, volunteering, or even starting small businesses. These skills prepare them for adulthood just as much as academics do.
